Well a bunch of pricks invaded our county and forced them to close our beaches and trails so nobody can have nice things anymore. We have been watching all the specials, I made this one of Hamster freaking out in the Bolivia special. I have to paint the upper retainer plate, it’s quite an ingenious design, I took the overhead pic to try and illustrate. It holds them in place by bending them over a a point in the middle of the numbers and then you clip that top piece in and it holds it all under tension so you don’t have to bolt anything to change the numbers.

For those wondering what a bridge plate is:

Just a bunch of noobs getting too close to each other, people from other counties came in like a summer Saturday and mobbed the supermarkets too so the workers there were upset and exposed to it all. I could tell some people had never been to a beach, it was like watching tourists back home in Hawaii. They hit the trails too, there were cars parked all along the road. I went a few days before that and I only saw two people.

I always loved those genuine fear/terror/laughter moments from old Top Gear. A lot of the stuff was staged but if you’ve watched enough, you can always tell when they were showing genuine emotion.

My favorite was Jeremy losing it when one of the others’ jag had a nasty rod knock and died after a dirt track race in the American Southwest in the USA Jag episode. (Edit: that was Grand Tour, but whatever)

I can only imagine tourists in Hawaii. I love Hawaii but wish I could look different when I visit haha.

I call them lobsters, they don’t seem to get how strong the sun is on pasty white skin. Then they all go buy matching aloha shirts (and sometimes shorts) at ABC.

Told my wife we had to rent a Hyundai because all of the clowns will be in wranglers and rag top pony cars. I was right.

Oh for years convertible Mustangs were the thing, you can not own one of those as a local. Local Mustang owners have to do a lot of customization so people know it’s not a rental, and buy  a GT500 or something. Those Wranglers are out of control now. I went to a wedding before Xmas and they are everywhere, and mostly white. I counted like 14 in one parking lot by a Waimea Canyon trailhead I think.

We found friendly locals in Anahola when we were in Kauai ALL of them were rolling some sort of modded up Tacoma

Of for sure, Tacos are king, you keep them til they rust into your front yard.  had a 2wd short bed short cab manual and then I actually got a 4 door Nissan SEV6 Frontier.

Ugh it killed me in the Bolivia special when someone pointed out the Sequoia (Land Cruiser?) Jeremy passed on Death Road was almost certainly one of their camera cars and therefore staged. In retrospect that they got shots from so many angles should have been a giveaway...

Now I have passed this depressing knowledge on to you.

It did also seem pretty “mom-spec” to be on that road. Though my mom owns a white Sequoia of that generation so maybe that is why I think that.
